Desert Dreams in Wahiba Sands : Our Stay at Sama Al Wasil

If there’s one tip we can give for visiting Wahiba Sands, it’s this: choose your desert camp wisely. Where you stay truly shapes how you experience the desert. We spent the night at Sama Al Wasil Desert Camp, and it was an absolute highlight of our trip—highly recommended for anyone seeking comfort, adventure, and unforgettable views.
The camp is beautifully set among the dunes, and from the moment you arrive, you feel immersed in the silence and vastness of the desert. One of the best parts? You can book all your activities directly through the hotel. Options range from dune bashing and camel rides to quad biking. We chose dune bashing—a thrilling ride with a guide in a 4x4, racing up and down the golden dunes. It’s wild, exhilarating, and definitely something to try at least once.
We ended the day sitting atop a dune right next to the camp, watching the sun melt into the horizon. The view was breathtaking, the silence profound. If that’s not a romantic evening, we don’t know what is.
Dinner at the camp was generous and delicious, served under the stars. And just when we thought the night couldn’t get better, we joined the open-air cinema—a cozy setup with cushions and blankets, surrounded by nothing but sand and sky. As darkness fell, we looked up and saw a sky full of stars, untouched by light pollution. It was the kind of moment that stays with you long after the trip ends.
